Most electrical problems we diagnose on modified vehicles come from rushed installs: spliced factory wires, poor grounds and missing fuses. We install the way we would want to find it later.
Where a vehicle-specific T-harness exists, we use it so the install plugs into the factory connectors instead of cutting them.
